Esther and Jerry's experience with Theo felt so good that they went home full of eagerness and started to meditate.
Esther had made a decision that she was going to meditate everyday for 15 minutes to find out who her spiritual guide was. In order not to think of anything and to focus on her breathing Esther began counting her breaths as they went in and out.
After about 3-4 minutes of doing this, she felt a very numb, tingly sensation which she describes as wonderful. She enjoyed it so much that after the initial 15 minutes, she suggested to Jerry that they do it again.
Once again, it was a wonderful experience so they decided to meditate for another 15 minutes. Toward the end of the final 15 minute meditation, Esther says that a wonderful, loving, sensation, greater than her was "breathing" her.
She describes it as a really exciting and wonderful feeling, but also frightening because she had no idea what was happening. This turned out to be Esther's first contact with Abraham.
It took Jerry and Esther Hicks 9 months meditating every day for 15-20 minutes before this first communication with Abraham.
Just before Thanksgiving in 1985, during a meditation session, Esther's head began to move around very gently. She said it was a nice sensation, kind of like a feeling of flying. Esther knew it wasn't her that was in control of the movement, but it felt so pleasant that she didn't give it a great deal of thought.
On about the third or fourth day of this happening, Esther realized that her head was actually drawing letters with her nose as if she was writing. She said to Jerry, "Jerry, I'm spelling the alphabet with my nose."
On saying this she experienced what she had not felt before and hasn't felt since. And then the entity spelt:
"I am Abraham, I am your spiritual guide, I love you, I am here to work with you."
This experience of spelling words with her nose lasted for about two months, after which time she became able to type Abraham's message.
Thank goodness for that...I imagine this process would've been very time consuming! They typed:
"I am Abraham, we will write a book together."
Esther said that she typed many wonderful, reassuring messages via Abraham for a couple of months.

The one and only rule of meditation is to know that there are no rules and you cannot get it wrong!
Meditation, like anything that you want to do well, requires practice and consistency. I personally use the these guided meditations and this 15 minute manifestation. Just allow yourself 15 minutes a day to sit quietly and disconnect from this world and reconnect with the world of spirit.
It is perfectly natural for your mind to wander when you begin, the same way it is natural to fall of a bike when you first start learning to ride. If you are patiently persistent, you will soon learn to ride the bike without falling off, and that same patient persistence will quiet a wandering mind during meditation.
Say often, "I can do all things through the power of my subconscious mind." Take the focus off your wandering mind and think about the things you do want.
Prior to your meditation you could say, "Dear Spirit, reveal yourself to me" or "Dear Spirit, show me what I need to know."
The answers will be revealed to you when you relax and stop looking for the solution. This I know through many, many years of frustration and receiving very little, if any, benefit from meditation.
Relaxing and allowing is something I have had to make a conscious effort to do. My days, like most people, are extremely busy and setting aside 15 minutes where I can totally switch off was never a priority. I used to do everything I needed to do first and if there was time leftover I'd meditate.
While my life is by no means perfect, since I have made meditation a priority, my days flow more easily and effortlessly.
There is an invisible energy force of infinite possibilities to tap into - and it's yours for the asking! Relax and enjoy.

Attention to obstacles makes them bigger and more stubborn; attention to shortages makes them bigger and prolongs them—and attention to a problem prevents any immediate resolution or solution.
As
you listen to our guided meditation recording, giving your attention to
your breathing and to the natural rhythm of your body, any problematic
Vibrational activation will simply cease to be. And, in the absence of
that resistance, your Vibration will naturally begin to rise until it
will align with the higher Vibration of the very solutions you have been
longing for.
In
the absence of longing, in the absence of doubt—in the absence of
obstacles and shortages and problems—will be the solutions and abundance
that you seek. And the evidence of your Vibrational shift will become
obvious in two ways: first, you will feel better; and next, physical
evidence of financial improvement will begin flowing to you from a
variety of different directions.
